Follow-up Study: The Best Citation Sources by Category

I'm excited to announce a follow-up to the last GetListed.org/Whitespark.ca study (Best Citation Sources by City) this morning: the Best Citation Sources by Category for U.S. businesses. As with the previous study, Darren and I used his Local Citation Finder tool and looked at some of the most common keywords within 70 local search categories across 53 large US cities, 20 medium-sized cities, and 20 smaller cities. We then scored the sites inversely based on ranking position combined with overall number of occurrences. The sites that appeared most often and with the highest rankings were deemed ?best? within each category.

In 2002, it was standard operating procedure In 2007, it was cute. Now, in 2012, it’s somewhat absurd. 7 Business Decisions to Make Before You Start a Blog

It happens to almost every blogger.

You start a blog, share it with your friends, and it gains momentum. It gets a couple thousand visits, a couple hundred subscribers, and yet you still haven?t made enough to cover the $100 hosting bill. This is when you start to think, ?Ok, how can I monetize this??

You email out affiliate offers, put up ads, and maybe even throw up a store. Nobody opens. Nobody clicks. Nobody buys. Your blog crumbles.

How To Sleep Deeper, Wake Up Earlier & Become Superhuman

“Mom? 5 more minutes” sound familiar? I love to sleep. In fact, I love to sleep so much I think this is the main reason I got out of the military and eventually started my own business. I am one of those people that set their alarms earlier just so I can hit snooze three or four times? at least I was. Is Snooze Slowly Killing You? Maybe “kill” is too strong of a word, or maybe it’s not. But let’s define killing you. Have you ever noticed when you hit snooze you wake up more tired, get less done, have a foul attitude towards life, and are generally just not at your peak performance? Have you noticed this effects your business, fitness, and most importantly your relationships? Or the fact that you get the recommended allowance of 7 to 9 hours recommended by just about everyone? but never feel [...]

Inspiration from 20 of the World?s Top Online Entrepreneurs

When done right, communication is the most powerful thing in the world. A true message communicated powerfully will permanently change the way people think and act.

Effective communication also happens to be one of my passions. So when Michael Dunlop asked me to edit a book of interviews with 20 of the world?s most successful online entrepreneurs, I saw it as an opportunity to flex my communicative muscle.

I expected to edit each interview into a piece of effective communication that would change the way the reader would think, act, and ultimately make money online. But what I didn?t expect was the impact that the interviews would have on my own personal video production business.

New Study: The Best Citation Sources By City

I’m really excited to announce a joint study with Darren Shaw of Whitespark that we’ve just published over on GetListed.org: the best citation sources for 93 U.S. cities. The methodology for the study was pretty simple: usingWhitespark’s Local Citation Finder, we looked for some of the most common keywords within71 local search categoriesacross 53 large [...]

In 2002, it was standard operating procedure In 2007, it was cute. Now, in 2012, it’s somewhat absurd. Yet somehow, in the present day, there are still all sorts of companies – big and small – that simply cannot grasp why they would ever create web content that was explicitly geared towards selling something.

To Pat, From Google Adsense: About Your Account?

Over the past few months, several people who own niche websites have shared that they’ve been banned from Google Adsense – some for legitimate reasons, I’m sure, but others for what seems like no reason at all, only to be on the receiving end of a generic, not-so-specific, no-reply email from Google explaining that their [...]
